Being Skilled Is Not Enough To Be Positioned For Profits Online

Being Skilled
Being Skilled: I had one of the busiest weekends anyone can ever think of. So, this past weekend, I spent time learning and unlearning from one of the best hands in the business industry and it was an amazing session. In the course of my busy schedule, I still create time to unwind. There was a need to shave or barber my hair and I went to a particular barbering shop, but the guy wasn’t available, all the people there were apprentices. I mean for goodness’ sake, there are some services that should be rendered by only you as a business owner and not your apprentice. I decided to walk away and went to another place, but this other one was available but lacked the skills needed for the kind of hairstyle I wanted to have.
.
Now, what is a skill? A skill can be said to be a learned power of doing something competently (Google). Now as a business owner, you need the competence to stand out in your industry. You need competence because you have lots of competitors. In the short story I shared, the guy was competent but wasn’t available. The second person was available but wasn’t competent. Assuming the second person was both competent and available, I will not hesitate to make him my stylist. So as a business owner, you must both be competent and available.
.
A MUST-HAVE SKILL FOR BUSINESS OWNERS:
1. LEADERSHIP
2. MANAGEMENT
3. COMMUNICATION
.
COMMUNICATION: It is of the essence that as a business owner, you master how to communicate with your audience. If the hairstylist had probably instructed his apprentices to inform any client that comes of his whereabouts or better still, they should call him, that would be well understood. Always communicate effectively with your audience, this will save you from missing out on lots of opportunities.
.
MANAGEMENT: You must also learn how to manage your team members efficiently to avoid lapses. It is in your ability as a business owner to know how to manage their excesses, so that you don’t have to lose out on your investment.
.
LEADERSHIP: Years back I once told a group of students that: A leader is someone who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way. As a business owner, in order to get the best from anyone, you must know how to take the lead yourself, you must know how to get your staff or audience motivated so that they can always listen to you whenever you want them to.
.
Dear business owners, these are subtle mistakes that we make that we may not necessarily feel that they are mistakes. You set up your business and you are not available, even when you are available, you are unskilled and also have unskilled workers.
.
I mean, this is one of the greatest mistakes any business owner can make. If you are a business owner and you want to live beyond the survival stage, then you need to build your business in such a manner that people would call you at any point in time to come to deliver your expertise, knowing fully well that you’ve been well trained.

Every business owner must as a matter of fact and urgency, enroll constantly for training. Don’t think that your customers will always spend their money to call you when they don’t see you, especially when you are yet to get their trust. If you must thrive as a business owner, improve your skills and always be available. Your availability and superior knowledge make you distinct. That is why you need just more than your skill set to stay profitable online.
.
What will you do differently from now? Will you be skilled and available? Do let me know if you got value or have any questions.
