The Beauty of Mentorship and why you need it

The Beauty of Mentorship and why you need it
A lot of people take mentorship for granted that they miss out on the benefits found in mentorship. A mentor can be a person who has successfully travelled to a destination that you want to go to. A journey that would ideally take you 10 years to cover, a mentor can guide you in such a way that you’ll avoid all the potholes and bumps and get there in one year. So why try to spend 10 years on a journey that can be shortened to 1 year?
.
A mentor knows where the stones are laid in the water and can show you where to step on. Why try to figure everything out when there’s someone who can guide you through? A mentor knows exactly what you can do to refine your talent because this is a field, he has succeeded in. A mentor knows the right network to introduce you to because he has been exploring this network for a long time. There are mistakes a mentor will help you to avoid because those were the mistakes he made when he was working to succeed in the same area you want to explore. As you work to develop your talent, choose a mentor to make the work easier.
.
How do I choose a mentor, you may ask? When choosing a mentor in the course of your talent development, choose someone who has already succeeded in the same field that you want to explore. Some people have mentorship programs which could be paid or unpaid as the case may be. If the person you have in mind has a mentorship program, that makes it easier for you. Join the mentorship program and please pay for it if it’s a paid program. If the person you have in mind does not have a mentorship program, does he have published books, courses, training, etc.?
.
If yes, please position yourself very well by purchasing his books, courses and training. Get yourself soaked up in these materials and you will be amazed at the knowledge you will acquire. It’s easier to get someone’s attention when you reach out to them, talking about the impacts their works have made on you. Then it’s not compulsory that this person must give you a one-on-one mentorship. If it happens, fine. If not, let his works (books, training, etc.) be your guide. Dr Myles Munroe of the blessed memory did not give me one on one mentorship, but his materials did.
.
Please one thing you must not do is barge in on people to seek mentorship. They will neither take you seriously nor listen to you. If you must get someone’s attention for direct mentorship, start by exploring the resources this person offers. Start from the work he is doing, and you will be exposed to great mentorship.
